than completes the chemical digestin by absorbing nutrients through the walls of the villi. It also passes amino acids and sugars to the liver and passes fats, fatty acids and glycerol into the lacteals. The large intestine finally sits around the small intestine and consists of the caecum, appendix, colon, rectum, anal canal and anus. These reabsorb water and nutrients from the waste and then any remaining nutrients are removed as faeces.

The urinary system consists of the kidneys, bladder and urethra, the system filters blood to produce urine. The kidney is a bean shaped organ positioned on the wall of the abdomen on either side of the spine. It filters toxic substances from the blood before it is circulated around the body. It also reabsorbs useful materials needed by the body then produces urine. The bladder is a sac like organ in the pelvic cavity. It is a store of urine when it becomes full it stimulates nerve cells, which cause the walls to contract, opening and emptying urine into the urethra. The urethra is a tube to pass urine out of the body controlled by the nervous system.

Altogether these twelve systems work very well together; they all have a vital role in the structure, processes and functions of human bodies.
