P1) Describe different types of communication and interpersonal interaction using examples relevant to health and social care settings.
Verbal communication: is the way we communicate using our thoughts through words.
Examples of verbal communication are:
• Talking
• Acting
• Interviews
Verbal communication is a very beneficial for the patients because verbal communication involves the way we talk to people and the types of gestures we use when communicating with other people.
Written communication:
Letters
Fax
Notice boards
Written communication is beneficial for patient because written communication can be used as text or even including pictures to highlight the point and make it easier for the patients to understand and makes it more appealing.
Non-verbal communication: is the way we pass on information.
Examples of non –verbal communication are:
Body language
Eye contact
Facial expression
Nonverbal communication is beneficial for the patients because we use body language to complement and reinforce the sharing and giving information.
One to one interactions: take place between on person to another, no body else is involved. It ensures that each person that are in communication as each other’s attention in a given moments.
Examples of one to one interaction are:
Letters of blood test result
Doctor giving medical information to the patient
A councillor assists a client at a therapy
One to one interaction is beneficial for the patients because, it help aid self-esteem and confident. And it can make them feel special and cared for, as this is a way of saying to a person that you have time for them.
Group interaction is a way of sharing views, ideals and important information with more then one person at a given time.
Examples of group interaction are
Meetings
Therapy sessions
Social event
Group interaction is beneficial for the patient because is useful for presetting and sharing ideas from one person to another or in a group to found a solution. Also, it’s good for socialising

External barrier
• Lighting: is very necessary to assist communication, especially for people with sight and hearing problems. Lighting help to facilitate some form of communication such as gestures and sign language and it help people to see each other is face expression. Poor light can inhibit communication because if there is poor light in the room people cannot see the person’s gestures, and face expression
